Recent Projects

Here is a look at some of the recent projects that I have worked on. Keep up to date with my current projects by following me on Instagram: bklyles

NFL Media - Web Documentary Series
This project took us to 6 different cities across the country to create a documentary series for the NFL. Each episode was about the team, the fans and the city that supported them. The name of the series was called "Heart of the Game" and can be watched here. This project was for G-Factor Films and I did G&E as well as behind the scenes camera and I ran the osmo for parts of the documentary itself. We went to Atlanta, Green Bay, Nashville, Seattle, Pittsburgh and Kansas City.

 Lazy Days RV Commercial Shoot
This project was 2 weeks long and we traveled to Tampa, Tucson and Denver. The first 2 pictures are of a night scene featuring a dancing couple. The third picture is a kitchen scene with the camera on a easy rig. The 4th and 5th picture show my LED soft tubes in action to help illuminate the scene. The 6th picture is showing the camera man leaning out of the back of a van in Tucson to capture rolling footage of the RV's.

Legends & Lies Season 3
This was our 3rd season of doing Legends & Lies for Fox News. Picture 1 - That's me operating the jib at the Capitol. Picture 2 - The DP using the ladder rig. Picture 3 - The DP using my new "Dana Dolly" set up. Picture 4 - This green screen was clamped to the set and then made a turn around the building. Picture 5 - Quick green screen set up using the scissor lift. Picture 6 - This was an LED light that was mounted in a vent. Picture 7 - Studio day with some branchaloris action for the windows. Picture 8 - At the bottom of the quarry with an 8x8 set up. Picture 9 - Custom made space light on a menace arm that I rigged. Picture 10 - Rigged a camera on top of the other grip van for maximum height. Picture 11 - Trent is in the lift with the moon light raking the scene. Picture 12 - Another beauty shot of that dolly.

Legends & Lies Season 2
This was our 2nd season for the Fox News TV show. The first two pictures are of our green screen for some troop duplication and for adding the city of Boston behind Ben Franklin. That third picture is a shot of the studio with some of our lights in action. The 4th & 5th pic are two custom made lights. A covered wagon to emulate fire light and an LED torch for a VFX shot. The 6th picture is a camera rig used for flipping the camera upside down. Number 7 is a a dolly set up in the woods. The last picture is of the DP using a new ladder rig I created.

WWI Shoot
This project was for a museum video. I was key grip on the project that took place in Pennsylvania. This first picture is of a big night scene where we had a 12k on a condor in the background and a 1200 in the foreground lighting the talent. The second picture is of a working WWI tank in front of the 12x40 blue screen that we set up. The third shows the talent under a 12x12 silk in front of the blue screen. The 4th picture shows another night scene set up with several lights, flags, diffusion, and a big bounce. This picture was taken just before it all got doused with a rain tower. The last two pictures show the dolly and jib that were used.

Fact VS Fiction
I was a 2nd camera on this series. We shot a wide variety of topics covering Alcatraz, Fort Knox, the Titanic, Suffragettes and the Hindenburg just to name a few.  The first two pictures are of a bank vault door and my slider set up. The third is from inside the vault showing how we blew out the background in of the shots. The fourth shot is showing our Titanic radio room set. The 5th shot is from an alcatraz story. The 6th picture is me filming Hindenburg crash survivors.

Legends & Lies
This was a 10 episode series on Fox news. On one of our set ups we had to block all the light from some very big windows in a conference room. We were able to quickly construct 2 blanket walls in order to cut all the light.
The 2nd and 3rd picture is for the same scene where Billy the Kid climbs out of a chimney. The grip team helped stabilize the chimney at an angle so the camera man could climb up it. Our small green screen can be seen in use in the back lot. The fourth picture is showing one of 2 jibs that were used on the show. The 5th and 6th shot are of a green screen we build to flow with the contour of the hill instead of having it in a frame. The 7th shot is Spider dolly set up under a bridge. The 8th picture is in the studio with the green screen and a 8x8 silk in action. The 9th picture is a light control rig that I mounted to cut down on how many stands were being used in a small set.

Josephine
This was a feature length movie. The first picture shows the jib that the grip team was responsible for building each day. The second picture is a nice sunset and you can see the dana dolly in the corner which was used extensively on this movie. The third picture is just a nice sunset with soldiers marching on the hill. The 4th shot was a train car inside of a warehouse. We had 4 1k lights beaming down from the top to act as a moonlight coming through the cracks of the train. The 5th and 6th shots are a before an after of a 100 ft green screen being set up.

Deadly Shootouts
This was a TV show for the Reelz Channel. The first shot is a flag I rigged outside of a window to block the light on the window sill. The 2nd shot is a rig that I quickly came up with to mount the camera to look straight down from the ladder. The 3rd picture is a camera mounted above the scene where there was no room for a tripod. The 4th picture is a shot from inside the jail in Goochland. The 5th picture is a mash up of 3 green screens. The one in the middle is a 20x20 and it is flanked by 2 smaller screens. The one on the left was some fabric bought from wal-mart the day of the shoot to cover one last section. The 6th picture is the ladder rig again but this time I added one more contact point to lock down the tripod head control arm.

Lumber Liquidators
This was a commercial shoot. The first shot is the gaffer getting the 18k ready. This is the first project that I have worked on with that big of a light and a generator that could handle it. The 2nd picture is the 18k in use at night. The 3rd shot is of my van in the back of the store. A bigger box truck would not have fit in there and it worked out great since it was raining that day.

The American Revolution
This was a TV show for the American Heroes Channel. I was 2nd camera/ grip on this project. The first picture is our small green screen in action. This was the first day of filming and the AC got bit by something and had to go to the hospital. The 2nd picture is a black snake that wandered on to set during the set up of a scene. The third picture is of the crew getting ready for the Boston massacre scene. This was right before half the crew got stung by wasps.
